Bangladesh: Mohammad Yunus takes over the caretaker government, congratulations from Pakistan and China
The new interim government of Bangladesh will hold new elections in the country within 90 days
After the elections of February 2024, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif won the honor of becoming the Prime Minister of Pakistan for the second time.
A new interim government of Bangladesh has been formed and Nobel laureate Muhammad Younis has taken over as its head.
According to the French news agency AFP, Muhammad Younis has started measures to restore peace and order after several weeks of protests in the country.
On the other hand, Pakistan and China have also congratulated Muhammad Younis for becoming the head of the interim government.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his hope for strong ties with Bangladesh while congratulating Mohammad Younis on his X account on Friday.
Shahbaz Sharif said, "Congratulations to Professor Muhammad Younis." My best wishes for guiding Bangladesh towards a prosperous and harmonious future.
"I look forward to working with them to further enhance the cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh."
China's Foreign Ministry has also welcomed the establishment of an interim government in Bangladesh.
According to AFP, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in his statement on Friday that "China has noted the new interim government formed in Bangladesh and China welcomes it."
Dr Muhammad Younis was sworn in as the Chief Advisor to the Interim Government on Thursday. His cabinet consists of 15 members, including students, members of minority communities and women.
Bangladesh's new interim cabinet also includes Naheed Islam and Asif Mehmood, leaders of the Students Against Discrimination group, which has led weeks of protests.

The remaining members of the cabinet include former foreign secretary Tawheed Hussain, former attorney general Hasan Arif, award-winning lawyer Syeda Rizwana Hasan, renowned lawyer and writer Asif Nazrul and prominent human rights activist who was sentenced to two years in Sheikh Hasina's regime. Worker Adeelur Rehman Khan is involved.
It should be noted that Parliament was dissolved after Sheikh Hasina Wajid resigned as Prime Minister on Monday following massive public protests.
